Wow! THIS is a travel story if there ever was one.

Thanks for the feedback, Betty! But it's a travel story I wouldn't wish upon anything else. It scared the $"%/ out of me.

I can imagine! You told it extremely well, I felt like I was there!

And the quote about courage and stupidity - I don't know what yours was :-) Both because you wanted to protect a person, but you put yourself in imminent danger.

One of my friends thinks it was humanitarian instinct, not bravery or stupidity. That’s because I acted without thinking. Instinct, then?

Yes, makes sense. But still, our instincts should keep us alive :)

I think we also have altruistic intincts to help other people, and I suspect that is what kicked in.

Great last line!

Thank you! Do you mean the one about the difference between bravery and stupidity?

Actually the last last line about the Romans beating the French at eating their hearts out. I guffawed.

My late wife and I visited the UK in 2017 and I really wanted to see Hadrian’s wall. She did all the arrangements so we stayed in a BnB in Haltwhistle and did manage to walk a decent amount one day. Although I was not aware of cow attacks, I was cautious in the one field that had a bull.

The 10 point list needs an eleventh item: beware the sheep dung, for it shall be impossible to avoid stepping on it (no matter your efforts).

I thought bulls weren’t allowed in fields with a public path! I’m glad nothing happened.

I didn’t encounter sheep dung, but it most be all over England….
